Is Me Sec Sch Photo!

Nostalgic...

For 2 years, we were 1 class.

This photo is taken in 2001. GreenRidge Secondary School. The story for this class concluded in March of 2003 as we came back to school once more to collect our 'O' Levels, and then we separated for good. Someone once told me that the friends you made in secondary school are the most precious, that statement rings true. On the day I leave Singapore for Perth, I had my family and a group of some of my closest friends from secondary school.

Secondary school is the pivot point of life. We stepped in at 12, innocent and stupid, and stepped out at 16, less innocent but still stupid. In between losing our innocence, we grew taller, bigger and hairier in more place then one!

GreenRidge was never recognized as a good school, and likely never will. We produces the majority of the delinquents within the estate, we were known as trouble-makers, law-breakers, discipline-problems. Some of us take pride in that. Our discipline master called us incorrigible on a daily basis (which was not very helpful since some of us don't even know what's incorrigible!). We were no angels, not even the fairest in school deserve a halo. We were no devils too, a pity everyone gets judged.

Take a look at the photo above. 6 years since we formally parted. Each and everyone of us made a choice and took a different path in life. Today we are nobody, every single name listed there, nobody knows. One day, each and every one of us will be somebody somewhere. Some will end up rich, some strive for fame, some will go on and live their life to the fullest, some may end up criminals, and some will be content to be have a special place in another's heart. We are young, we are constantly moving. Where we will be, only the future knows.

Some of us hated the school. Some of us loved it with our heart. Most of us were in for the ride! Lame as it sounds to me at 12, still the same 10 years on. The school's motto never did leave me.

From Each His Best

And I would mine too.
